Cone of traceable Clapdale wool yarn

Clapdale Wool Worsted Spun 2-Ply 2kg Cone for Machine Knitting

A 1.9kg cone of worsted spun undyed 2-ply 2/9 Nm British wool yarn created from our Clapdale traceable Yorkshire wool project, perfect for machine knitting garments. This 2-ply yarn has been worsted spun for the purposes of machine knitting and we've manufactured our Thwaite jumpers using it (on Stoll machines).

If you're a designer or fashion house looking for the most traceable British yarn you can find suitable for making small runs of quality British knitwear then this is the yarn for you. Manufactured exclusively by Glencroft from fleeces collected from two farms within 5 miles of our warehouse in Clapham, Yorkshire Dales. This is a reasonably coarse British wool yarn, that makes exceedingly warm knitwear. Contact us for trade / wholesale pricing.

The Clapdale Wool project was launched to create a fully traceable yarn that benefitted local farmers with help from the Yorkshire Dales National Park Sustainable Development Fund. Farmers were paid a decent price for their clip and in addition 10% of the profits from the project will also go back to the farms.

The wool contains all the sheep breeds on these two Clapham farms - Dalesbred, Teeswater, Blue Face Leicester (BFL), North of England Mule and Texel. We have scoured, carded, combed and spun this wool entirely in West Yorkshire. This is undyed so is predominately a natural cream colour with a tiny amount of darker black and brown wool fibres.

Length: Approximately 8,550 metres. Weight: 1.9kg net. Contact us for trade / wholesale pricing.

100g balls of 2 ply Clapdale yarn and 100g hanks of DK Clapdale yarn also available for hand knitters.
