Clapdale Wool Traceable Cattlegrid Knit Jumper

A thick and chunky jumper in what we call a ‘cattlegrid’ knit pattern, made from Glencroft’s own 100% traceable British Wool – Clapdale Wool.

Clapdale Wool is manufactured exclusively by Glencroft from fleeces collected from seven farms within ten miles of our warehouse in Clapham, Yorkshire Dales.

This is a unisex jumper available in four sizes and three colours - blue, silver and dark grey. We've used up all the 2-ply yarn we spun in these colours from our 2022 batch of Clapdale Wool, so you'll be wearing something completely unique that should last you decades.

The jumper is a similar feel to other British Wool jumpers. The cattlegrid knit pattern is very thick and chunky making for a heavy and warm jumper.

The Clapdale Wool project was launched to create a fully traceable yarn that benefitted local farmers with help from the Yorkshire Dales National Park Sustainable Development Fund. Farmers were paid a decent price for their clip and in addition a share of the profits from the project will also go back to the farms. The wool contains all the sheep breeds on our local farms – Dalesbred, Blue Face Leicester (BFL), North of England Mule and Texel.

We have scoured, carded, combed and spun this wool entirely in West Yorkshire and knitted these jumpers over the border in Lancashire. From fleece to jumper in just under 100 miles.
