Woven in Time – A history of wool in Yorkshire

A new film from Campaign for Wool follows the history of wool production in Yorkshire.

We had the honour of being invited to the official premiere in Salts Mill, Shipley. An appropriate venue as Salt’s Mill was once a textile mill – the largest industrial building in the world by total floor area – with 1200 looms and over 3000 workers producing miles of worsted cloth.

The film premiere was part of Wool Week 2019 which also featured a number of wool workshops in Salt’s Mill including a display featuring Glencroft and products by other British wool garment producers.

Watch the film below. Written and presented by R. Peter Ackroyd.
